Farmville collectables are an interesting way to add to the richness of this virtual world. Collecting exposes the classic conflict in computer games: ”Should I buy cool stuff or should I save my coin to rise up through the levels?” collectables are just pure fun and many gamers are avid collectors who are cutthroat when they are in pursuit of a goodie that will complete an entire collection. But why would anyone bother with collecting?

#1: There are millions of collectors on this planet and even though the appeal may not be obvious to others, the collector appreciates the item in some powerful way. Popular collectables in the Real World are old tools, stuffed animals, hats, bottles, plants, old maps and snow globes. Even if we can’t understand why anybody would be passionate about these items, the collector cares nothing for our opinion. And online game collectors are no different.

However, collecting can also be a deliberate game strategy because there are substantial rewards for a complete set. These include 5,000 game coins to spend any way you please, five free tanks of gas to run your seeder, harvester or tractor and 250XP (Experience Points). Of course, you might spend your coin on various collections – and never complete any of them. So it’s both a strategy and a gamble.

Don’t forget that acquiring collectables is basically a distraction from the main action of the game. You are not obliged to acquire any collectables at all if what you really want is to rise quickly through the levels and earn additional funds.

Finding Collectables Via Popups: Farmville is loaded with popups and you might be busily plowing your corn fields when a treasure that you’ve been waiting for pops up on your screen. If a sought-after goodie appears, though, don’t wait! Some collectables disappear in only seconds so you snooze, you lose.

No Work = No Collectables: There are constant chores on any farm – even a virtual one. You can earn collectables by being a hard worker. You earn the right to certain collectables by normal farm tasks of tilling the soil and planting seeds.

The most effective means of acquiring Neighbors is always to keep tabs on your feeds – both the live ones and the news ones – for “wall postings” from nearby Neighborhood friends.

Exactly like the Real World, many collectables will be easy to acquire while a handful are particularly hard to find. The game’s inventors classified all objects as Rare, Uncommon and Common. If you are a bug collector, a ladybug will be easy to acquire but a centipede is exceedingly Rare.

If you’re comfortable with the game being haphazard, then you will receive pleasure from playing. If if makes you uneasy, forget the entire collectables action in Farmville.
