A Great Winter Drink; Amanda’s Hot Chocolate
When you think of great hot chocolate, you generally think of New England, the upper Midwest, and other cold weather areas.
But, when it come to food and drink, never underestimate the Cajuns of South Louisiana. They could make your car taste good.
Among the top hot chocolate makers I know is Amanda, a busy university administrator and mother of two young children. Here is the recipe she uses to make hot chocolate mix for her family and the lucky families with whom she shares it.
Put ten cups of dry powdered milk in a large bowl.
Add 2 1/2 cups of Coffee-Mate or a similar product.
Add eighteen ounces of Nestle’s cocoa mix.
Add 1 1/4 cups of powdered sugar, and mix everything together thoroughly.
Amanda recommends that you try a cup of the cocoa (two heaping teaspoons in a cup of hot water), and add more of any ingredient you think it needs. I like the recipe as is, but I am hooked on chocolate, so I always add a little more cocoa.
Whether you make a last minute ingredient adjustment or not, you’ll love it. Your friends and family will too.
